Sellick™ - The cricoid pressure trainer

August 22, 2017

We are pleased to announce the launch of our innovative new cricoid pressure trainer - Sellick™. Sellick™ is a unique task trainer that allows training clinicians to learn, practice, retain and reproduce the correct technique for effective cricoid pressures. Sellick™ gives real time feedback on cricoid pressures allowing training clinicians to repeatedly perform the 'Sellick’s Manoeuvre' in a simulated environment until they develop muscle memory for the correct pressure required in this procedure.

The simulator is the product of nearly a year of development and fine-tuning which has seen the Inovus designers and clinicians working closely with senior educators at Edge Hill University in order to develop the closest to life cricoid pressure trainer ever seen.

Inovus co-founder and CEO, Dr Elliot Street, had this to say about the product, “There is clear evidence for the benefits of cricoid pressure in RSI. I believe the recent contention around the use of cricoid pressure can be attributed to a global lack of understanding of correct technique as opposed to questions over the efficacy of the procedure itself. This lack of understanding of the technique is simply due to the lack of a high quality simulator or task trainer for teaching and practicing this skill. At Inovus we are always looking to produce affordable products that answer unmet need, and in Sellick™ I believe we have nailed this brief. I am confident that we will see a resurgence of the use of cricoid pressures now there is a product that can deliver high quality training in this important skill.”

Sellick™ is available for sale from 21st August 2017. If you would like to arrange a demonstration of the product please email: info@inovus.org. We will be showcasing Sellick™ at the ASPiH congress in Telford on the 6th-8th November; come and pay us a visit on stand 18 to hear more about this and our other exciting product releases.
